Letter To The Citizens of Hardin

January 17, 2007

Re: City Happenings

From: Ron Adams, Mayor

The year 2006 seems to have mysteriously disappeared. One day I was penning my New Year's Resolutions and suddenly it was time to do the same for 2007. By the way, I seem to have let my resolutions fall by the wayside as usual.

As far as the City goes, the year 2006 was similar to a roller coaster ride. The scary part of the ride was losing several valuable members of our staff. Certainly, the one loss we had that brought sorrow to the entire City of Hardin, as well as the entire staff of the City, was the tragic loss of Wes Bearden in a motorcycle accident. As is usually the case, replacements have been found and we are moving forward, looking ahead to better times.

Two big projects were brought to fruition in 2006. The Power Plant opened and seems to be running smoothly. We were also able to sell bonds for the roads and infrastructure for the entire Industrial Park. Our next large venture to be successfully entered into was the Detention Center. It is progressing very well at this time and it appears it should be up and running by June 2007. There will be between 100-125 job openings to run this facility.

Another project that the city is currently beginning is the capture of cats that are running loose. This is a part time activity that is going rather smoothly so far. The captured cats are taken to the vet where they are either spayed or neutered. Eventually the cat population will dwindle.

Plans are moving ahead with a much needed new Fire Station. It will go out for bid soon. When it is built, we will be looking toward remodeling the old Fire Hall into some office space for the use of the city.

I still have three years left on my current term as Mayor. As always, if you have ideas or questions, write to me or call my office and I will strive to get back to you in a timely manner. Don't forget to talk to your City Councilmen about issues that concern you. We meet on the first and third Tuesdays of each month and you are always welcome to attend.

Thank you all so much for allowing me to be part of your City Government for the past seventeen years.

Sincerely Yours,

(Signed) Ronald E. Adams

Mayor
