Samuel H. Hardin Facts

*Originally from Texas

*Came west in 1880 to go into the cattle business

*Was President of the Lincoln Land Co. of Lincoln, Nebraska

*Was a Senator

*In 1902, elected to State Legislature, and served one term for Sheridan County

*Was author of the measure which provided for the erection of the State Hospital in Sheridan in 1904.

*Organized the first livestock association in Wyoming

*Married Mrs. Jessie G. McIlvain in 1895

*Stepfather to John "Jack" G. McIlvain and foster father of sorts to Orville G. Lewis

*Had large grazing lease on the Crow Indian Reservation

*Was co-owner of the 04 Bar Ranch - his partner was Andrew C. Campbell
